What we do?
- The Federation's main aim is to ensure that tenants & residents, who live on council estates in Kirklees, are able to play a full part in the decision making process and have a voice on issues concerning their housing, their environment and their communities.
- keep member associations up to date and fully informed on developments in housing policy, both locally and nationally.
- Provide advice, assistance and support to existing associations and encourage the development of new associations in areas presently not represented.
- Open up channels of communication for those tenants who are not part of a formally recognised TRA.
How do we do it?
- KFTRA produce a regular monthly newsletter 'Hometruths' which is posted out to all TRA's and to other people with an interest in the tenant movement.
- Hold KFTRA Delegates Meetings, usually 5/6 per year to discuss topical issues. These meetings are open to everyone involved in the tenant movement.
- Organise a number of annual seminars and special events, e.g. Better Place to Live Event, Housing Investment Conference, Service Planning Conferences, Repairs Consultation, which are open to everyone involved in the tenant movement.
- Deliver a comprehensive annual Training Programme, held locally.
- Facilitate a range of working groups, which meet up with senior managers from Housing and other Council Departments.
- KFTRA staff are always available to help develop and support TRA's.
- KFTRA have a 500 strong panel of Speak Easy members, who are regularly asked to complete questionnaires on various services.
- Campaigning for changes to policies locally and nationally.
