One of the proposed changes to social housing which has been announced recently by the government is the removal of secure tenancies for council house tenants. These changes would mean that tenants would no longer have a home for life but would be given tenancies on a ‘fixed term’ basis, some a short as two years.
Representatives from KFTRA have been out and about collecting signatures from people who are opposed to these major changes and will be presenting this petition to the government as part of the consulation exercise on the proposed reforms to social housing policy.
