Dutch Delegation Visit KFTRA

Monday 28th February 2011

On 24th & 25th February a group of Dutch politicians and housing professionals made a visit to the  Kirklees area.   Members of the party came from the cities of Tilburg, Waalwijk and Loon op Zand and were interested in relationships between local authorities, politicians, housing corporations and tenants and residents organisations in both the public and private sectors.

On Thursday, 24th February, the Dutch delegation made a visit to the KFTRA Offices in Newsome where they were given a presentation about the work of the federation and met up with some of the members of the KFTRA Management Committee and KFTRA Staff Members.  After looking round the KFTRA Offices the party travelled to Honley and met some of the tenants who live in the Roundway Sheltered Housing Complex and learned about some of the successful campaigns which have been organised by the Roundway TRA.

The visitors said that they were very impressed with what they had seen and thought that the tenant movement in Kirklees was extremely well organised,  gave people real opportunities to be involved and represented excellent value for money.

Visits to the Deighton & Brackenhall Initiative, Fresh Horizons, Fieldhead and Savile Town were also part of the itinerary.

The Dutch visitors were given a presentation about the work of KFTRA and a chance to meet with KFTRA Management Committee members and KFTRA staff members.

The Dutch visitors visted Roundway Sheltered Housing Complex in Honley and met up some of the members of the local TRA.
